FRANCES STILWELL
Frances Stilwell was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1940. An early interest in nature led her to a Master's Degree in Botany-Biophysics at the University of Cincinnati in 1967. She worked for two years at the University of Cincinnati Medical School before moving to Oregon in 1969. Then she went on to doctoral studies in Zoology at Oregon State University. After two years she took a leave of absence from OSU to evaluate salmon survival on the Rogue River for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. After a short stint with the Bureau of Land Management, she honored a life-long dream of painting and drawing. Frances has authored "Oregon's Botanical Landscape - An Opportunity to Imagine Oregon Before 1880". It includes 82 images of her paintings.
